Christmas present :WW II mystery ends for airman's family

The remains of Thomas Knight of Brookfield are identified more than 60 years after his disappearance

U.S. Army Air Forces Staff Sgt. Thomas Knight went missing in action in World War II. In the 60 years since, his life and valor were relegated to a dusty scrapbook and a stack of letters stuffed in a cedar chest in a distant relative's basement. Christmas is coming, they are preparing for the Christmas dress up.

This week, Knight returned to his family's consciousness when the Defense Department announced his remains had been identified with those of his nine crewmates in Papua New Guinea.
